Tell us about your boat

Call or email. Tell us what you have and what you want the canvas or upholstery to do, and we’ll arrange a visit aboard.

We usually reply within two business days. If it’s urgent, tell us, and we’ll do what we can.

The loft

Our workshop loft is at Stimson Marina (opens in a new tab), Seattle, WA, in Ballard, on the Salmon Bay side of the Ship Canal. We’ll give you directions to the entrance when we arrange your visit.

We’re often out working aboard customers’ boats, so please call ahead to arrange a time to meet at the loft or at your boat. We don’t want to miss your visit.

Hours

  • 9 to 5, Monday to Friday. Weekend days by prior arrangement.
  • We’re closed on most major holidays; call ahead in a holiday week to make arrangements.
  • Visits aboard your boat are by appointment.
  • If you’d like to bring your boat to Stimson Marina, please call ahead rather than arriving unannounced: guest moorage is limited and varies by the day, and with your permission we’ll arrange a slip with the marina’s dock master before you come. A slip is not guaranteed without prior arrangement.

Getting here

By road.

  • Stimson Marina is off 24th Avenue NW in Ballard, Seattle’s historic maritime neighborhood.
  • Park in the marina’s visitor spaces, marked in blue paint.
  • The gates from the street are open from morning until 7 pm; call first for other hours.

By water.

  • From Puget Sound, come through the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, then east into Salmon Bay.
  • From Lake Union or Lake Washington, come west along the Ship Canal; the Fremont Bridge and then the Ballard Bridge open on request outside their restricted hours.
  • The Corps of Engineers (opens in a new tab) publishes the Locks’ hours and closures, and the City of Seattle (opens in a new tab) and WSDOT (opens in a new tab) publish the bridges’ opening rules.
  • You’re the skipper: check the weather, the tides, and the current Locks and bridge rules before setting course for Stimson Marina.

In the neighborhood

The Ballard commercial district is a short walk or drive from the loft: its shops, restaurants and bars (opens in a new tab), the farmers market (opens in a new tab) every Sunday, the Majestic Bay (opens in a new tab) cinema, the National Nordic Museum (opens in a new tab), and the Ballard Locks (opens in a new tab). If you’re coming to the loft, make a half-day or a day of it, and see a maritime neighborhood that is both historic and still at work.
